The Delaware State Hornets are the athletic teams that represent Delaware State University (DSU) and compete at the NCAA Division I Level. The school uses the Hornets as their mascot since 1924 and has been one of the most successful HBCU athletics programs in the country over the years. DSU Hornets has won 20 MEAC championships, including 10 in football and 10 in men’s basketball.
The Hornets are known for their hard-nosed style of play and their ability to compete with the top teams in the country. The team has had many great players over the years, including former NBA players Charles Barkley and Marvin Webster.
Currently, the team is led by head coach J.P. Blandin, a former Hornet player himself. Blandin is known for his ability to develop young talent and get the most out of his players. He has led the Hornets to 10 MEAC championships in his career.
