The DePauw University Tigers are the athletic teams that represent DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. The Tigers participate in NCAA Division III athletics and are members of the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC).
The tiger was chosen as the mascot of DePauw University in 1890. The exact reason for this choice is unclear, but it is likely that the tiger was chosen because of its symbolic association with strength, courage, and determination. These qualities are all important to DePauw athletes, and they are also reflected in the university’s motto, “Fight On!”.
The DePauw Tigers have a long and storied history. The football team has won 33 NCAC championships, the most of any conference member. The men’s basketball team has won 11 NCAC championships, and the women’s basketball team has won 4 NCAC championships. The Tigers have also had success in other sports, such as baseball, softball, volleyball, and track and field.

The Tigers have won the NCAC’s Presidents’ Cup, which is awarded to the conference’s top athletic program based on both athletic and academic success, a record 17 times.
