The term “Washington Power” can refer to two different things:
Washington Power (lacrosse) was a professional box lacrosse team that played in the National Lacrosse League (NLL) from 1987 to 2001. The team was originally known as the Baltimore Thunder and played in Baltimore, Maryland. In 2001, the team moved to Washington, D.C. and changed its name to the Washington Power. After two seasons in Washington, the team moved to Denver, Colorado and became the Colorado Mammoth.
Washington Power Company was an electric utility company that provided electricity to customers in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia. The company was formed in 1973 as a result of the merger of several smaller electric utilities. In 1999, Washington Power Company was acquired by Pepco Holdings, Inc. and became part of Pepco Energy.
